We are looking for dedicated Day Activity Support Workers to work in Oakham (Rutland) to help adults with learning disabilities live a fulfilled life by making a difference in their lives.
As a Day Activity Support Worker, you will be working in the day service (activity centre) where you will support adults with learning disabilities to participate in a range of activities using both service based and community resources as appropriate.
You will use person centred approaches to enable people to make their own choices and have control over the support they receive to access community, education, and employment opportunities.
You will promote social inclusion and contribute towards service development to meet individual and service outcomes.

Job Description
• To promote independence by supporting people to make their own choices and decisions.
• To support individuals with their personal care ensuring all tasks are carried out with respect for privacy and dignity and in line with needs, wishes and preferences as defined in the support plan.
• To safeguard and promote the welfare of people through the embedding of safeguarding processes and practice
• To promote healthy life styles for individuals
• To adhere to safe moving and handling procedures in line with individual support plans following training.
• To support individuals/groups to attend local and regional events which promote key themes of interest to adults with learning disabilities
• To support individuals to access employment opportunities
• To support individuals to access educational opportunities
• To support individuals to develop and maintain social networks and friendships.
Requirements of Support workers role
• Knowledge of safeguarding principles
• Positive attitude, motivated and enthusiastic
• Previous experience as a carer, Support Worker or Health Care Assistant.
